Having grown up with his humor it saddens me to know that George Carlin is dead. Carlin was one of the first observational and counter-culture comedians of the hippie generation- and his style and comedy will be missed. It was just announced that Carlin was to receive the Mark Twain Award for Humor at the annual Kennedy Honors this year. Carlin was 71.
The news broke here on the West Coast about 10:30 and Carlin would have loved how the Networks in Los Angeles used his Death to tease the 11pm News as breaking news. The story of his death- was no longer than 1:30 in length, when all 3 nets moved into the heat wave in Los Angeles, and a 4 Car Pileup on the 405 Freeway. Carlin would have a field day with the coverage.
