NYPD Shut Down Yazmany Arboleda Art Exhibit- The (Character) Assassination's of Hillary and Obama (by the Media)!
The rented storefront was right across the street from the NYTimes, and the Title of the exhibition was "The Assassination of Barack Obama" and "The Assassination of Hillary Clinton". The term assassination got some folks nervous, and the NYPD and Secret Service were called. The art exhibit by Yazmani Arboleda portrayed the character assassination of the two Senators by the media, but that didn't make a difference to police. The exhibition was shut down, and the windows covered. Arboldea had two web sites devoted to the 2 day exhibit- one for Mrs. Clinton and one for Mr. Obama according to the NY Times article, which show a little of what was on display (check out the links for yourself). The artist was questioned and released.
The Government has always been fact to act when the word "assassination" comes into play with Presidential candidates and The Executive Branch of Government, and perhaps some would feel they overreacted, but some feel, that the exhibit may have incited. What's that saying- it's better safe than sorry?
About 8 years ago, I was at a Talkers New Media Seminar in NYC and Nominee George W. Bush was going to speak and visit the exhibit area. To say that security was tight was an understatement. Thorough would be the word. They were just doing their "job".
