This story is not what you really think. Yes two sky divers jumped into the Blue Devils football stadium prior to the Duke vs James Madison game- Stadium and school officials were surprised- as they did not have this highlight on their agenda. What happened was the skydivers were supposed to jump and bring the game ball to the game pitting North Carolina against Meese State. The problem was the weather, as the skydivers while in the air opted from jumping into the stadium because of the severe weather. They probably said "Why waste a jump". Let's go to the Blue Devil's stadium and surprise them... And did they ever! UNC has apologized to Duke for the "mistake".
I remember seeing Killer Kowalski in a wrestling match in Cleveland in the late 60's and he was a heel if I had ever seen one. But Kowalski will be remember with the wrestling fraternity for his mentoring, coaching and teaching.
Michael Moore is a jerk! The statement about Hurricane Gustav hitting during the GOP convention may be funny to him, and others- but the insensitivity to those who will be affected by this Category 5 hurricane when it its US landfill is beyond belief. There is nothing funny about people having to evacuate their homes, and possibly losing everything to a hurricane that appears to be more powerful than Katrina. During the MSNBC interview, Moore tried to Backtrack and say he hopes no one gets hurt......too little, too late!.....Michael Moore is more than a jerk....he is an ass.
If Denise Harvey serves her full sentence she will be 70 when released from Jail. She was convicted and sentenced for having sex with a 16 year old boy who was friends with her son. Harvey had sex with the boy five times was convicted on five counts- each count carried a sex six year sentence. Harvey, prior to sentencing- asked for Mercy....but it's obvious it fell on deaf ears.
This sentence should send a warning to adults....maybe the courts and judges are getting tired of the Adult/Teen sex problem, most notably with educators and students.
All this week, I have been thinking about Hurricane Katrina and the victims. As Hurricane Gustav gains strength, one realizes that "this is out of our control" and all we can do is pray and wait- Hoping our Government and the residents in Gustav's path have learned from Katrina!
I really liked the late Tom Snyder! His acerbic interview style, his hearty laugh- but one thing Ole' Tom had against him was his over-inflated ego. That is- until the folks at the Network decided to tame him...and all hell broke loose. From that point on...Snyder was reigned in- and I remember how sad it was to watch him on Cable towards the end of his career. What has that to do with Keith Olberman?
Keith Olberman started as a teen writing about Baseball Cards...then he became a radio Sports Announcer! Now Look at him- He appears to be an expert on everything- especially since his ratings are high. But what has made him what he is? His expertise? Nope....The audience. Keith Olberman's only expertise is that he has been on NBC/ ESPN/Fox and now MSNBC. Whoopdee Doo. Now I am reading about others on MSNBC that have contempt for him. Sitting in front of a Camera with a tally light does not make you an expert. It makes him seasoned air-talent. I have written many a column over the years, on what makes an expert an expert and what gives the right for a talking head or News Reader to have an over inflated ego. Keith Olberman should acquire some humility, and that "to the stars" career won't peak anytime soon. If not, you may find that you have "jumped the shark"! Something Tom Snyder did....who you definitely remind me of.
I only thought there was one Nessie- The Loch Ness Monster, the one that hasn't been seen for decades, yet the Loch Ness has become a tourist attraction because of Nessie. The Swedes have their own Nessie- Named the Storsjoojuret, the beast was photogaphed in the deep waters of the Storsjon – the Great Lake. It does look like a snake....But at least it's not a halloween costume hoax like Atlanta's Bigfoot from early this month!
Newly married Nigel and Helen Davis just got married and were at the reception dancing their first dance as man and wife. That is when 12 year old Jordan Martin took a picture- When developed the picture showed the newlyweds dancing, but also showed a ghost- a womans head and torso floating in the picture. No word on what type of camera was used- but Martin noted the ghost a couple days when he looked at the photos on his computer. Photo from UK Telegraph/SWNS
We have all felt the frustration- trying to swat flys. Those summer irritants that always fly around us, and nobody else. They fly, land, we swat and miss. About the only time I am able to kill a fly is is they are trapped in my bathroom (with the door closed), and I swat them with a towel....they never see it coming.
The UK Independent looks at the fly, and how they deal with danger. It's one-thousandths of a second a fly can change course when it realizes danger. A fly's tiny brain can detect a threat, adjust flight course, and take evasive action in 100-thousandths of a second. The researchers, writing in the journal Current Biology, recommend thinking one step ahead of the fly.
"It is best not to swat the fly's starting position," a researcher explained, "but rather to aim a bit forward of that, to anticipate where the fly is going to jump when it first sees your swatter."
Let me know how it works- as I will stick with my towel...
