Feds Probing Oil-Sex Scandal in Denver's Minerals Management Service Office- Do We Call it Oilgate? Denvergate? Energygate?
What more can the media ask for? A Government Sex Scandal right before an election. Sex, Drugs, Booze and kick-backs.... It will be interesting to see how the candidates handle this soon-to-be HOT Topic....
Fox News is reporting that between 2002 and 2006 the Denver office of Minerals Management Services was like a fraternity atmosphere with 13 employees having "alleged improprieties include
rigging contracts, working part-time as private oil consultants, and
having sexual relationships with — and accepting golf and ski trips and
dinners from — oil company employees" Between 2002 and 2006, nearly a
third of the 55-person staff in the Denver office received gifts and
gratuities from oil and gas companies, the investigators found.
The Denver Minerals Management
Service office responsible for marketing the oil and gas that energy
companies barter to the government instead of making cash royalty
payments for drilling on federal lands. The government received $4.3
billion in such Royalty-in-Kind payments last year. The oil is then
resold to energy companies or put in the nation's emergency stockpile.
With the release of this news, and our politicians boring ahead about energy- let's watch the spin that the candidates use with this news. Palin IMO has the edge on this one. Will this be called Oilgate? Denvergate? Energygate?
