Did Mark Whicker have good intentions when he decided to write a column for kidnap victim Jaycee Dugard, noting what she missed in sports history during her 18 years of being held captive? Perhaps, but its not coming off that way. Brooks from SBB takes issue with the column, as do others- and wonder- What the hell was this guy thinking? And how did an editor let this type of story run?

I spoke with Mark's editor, Todd Harmonson, and he did not approve the column because he was on vacation. Harmonson asked that I reserve judgment and look for the apology. I have to say to say that the apology was totally lakingI also feel that taking more than two days to issue the apology eliminates the "lapse of judgment" excuse.
The more calls Todd Harmonson gets the better. I have his direct line as 714-796-2428.
