When Goodwill of Miami realized it was in posession of a ballerina statue by Sterett-Gittings Kelsey, one of ten the artist sculpted. Goodwill contacted the investment company that donated the statue and they notified their client. The artwork was entitled Vanessa-Helena-Katharina-Landegger. Interesting enough the artist, when contacted, was somewhat amused by the mix-up! Goodwill says this is all about honesty!
Model Kathleen Neill took her art to a new level, but will have to pay the price. Neill was arrested for posing nude in New York's prestigious Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her posing was the latest project of photographer Zach Hayman, who photographs nudes in public places.
I don't usually write about candidates for "Father of the Year" But Fresno gang member Enrique Gonzalez is a candidate, after he held his son down, and another gang member tattoo'd a dogs paw on the child's right hip, the tattoo is the insignia of the Bulldogs, Fresno's largest criminal street gang.
James Kuhn has set a record, a record that I didn't (and bet you) didn't know existed. He painted his face a different way, each day for a year. Don't ask ME why? Tosee the eerie illustrations....you will have to go to the article. Photo copyrights!!
Once again Sports By Brooks scoops the world with word that Danica Patrick has a new tattoo. The tattoo is that of an American Flag, and if you go to the story, you will see where she has it. and other pictures of course.
The case is in the court now, but the Nuns of the Daughters of Mary Mother of Our Savior, outside Albany believe art dealer Mark Zaplin knew the painting he purchased for $450,000 was worth more than $2Million dollars. The fact that it was appraised by a Zaplin recommended appraiser for $350 -$450,000 suggests that, according to the Nuns lawyer, an alleged conspiracy may have transpired- since Zaplin sold the painting for $2.2 Million. The 1889 painting was a donation to the convent.
Editta Sherman has lived in her studio apartment above Carnegie Hall in NYC for over 50 years, but that may be changing soon if Carnegie officials get there way. Carnegie Hall is set for a remodel, and that includes the tenants who have lived there for some time. But Ms Sherman refuses to go without a fight...even though the Carnegie folks have offered to pay moving expenses, search for a comparable apartment, and pay the difference in rent for her. Sherman, a celebrated portrait photographer uses the studio apartment for her business, and loves where she is at- even though she is the only one left on her floor.
Seems to me that this is a no win situation for Carnegie Hall...even though they appear to bending over backwards for Editta.
Marie Claire has an in-depth article on Nicole Buffet, the Granddaughter of The Sage of Omaha, Warren Buffett. Nicole is an artist, and a good one at that. She lives on $40,000.00 a year, no health insurance, and no cable tv. Her Grandfather cut her out of his will a few years ago. According to the Marie Claire article: ( a couple years ago) Nicole agreed to appear in The One Percent, a documentary by Johnson & Johnson heir Jamie Johnson about the gap between rich and poor in America. She had informed her father, but failed to get the blessing from her grandfather. Let's just say Mr. Buffett was none to happy with Nicole, and since then she has been a "black sheep" within the family. It is doubtful that this article will bring her back to his good graces either.
What is the Stone Nudes Calendar? It's a calendar made up of beautifully photographed nude women rock climbing. All photos are in black and white copyright and created by Dean Fidelman.
According to the web site:
Unlike current climbing media, these images do not seek to sell or promote anything beyond the experience. This approach has attracted climbers of all abilities to participate in a project designed to capture the essence of the climbing sprit.
When Laura Bush asked all members of Congress to pick artists to decorate ornaments for the White House Christmas tree, Jim McDermott (D- WA) picked liberal artist Deborah Lawrence. Lawrence designed a red swirling ornament, with text between the swirls thanking McDermott for supporting the resolution to impeach George Bush. Initially the First Lady's staff said, they had no plans to NOT hang the ornament, but in an updated post - Sally McDonough, a spokeswoman for the first lady, confirmed the ornament would not be
displayed. "It's inappropriate and it's not being hung," she said. She
said that when asked about the issue yesterday, the White House tree
decorations were not complete. "We reviewed the ornament along with all
the [other] ornaments, and Mrs. Bush deemed it inappropriate for the
holiday tree. Artist Lawrence was still slated to attend the White House reception for artists this afternoon. (photo from Washington Post/Courtesy of Deborah Lawrence)
