Zune Problem Isolated to Internal Clock? Your Zune "Should" Work Fine Tomorrow

Itsnotabig truck over at the Zuneboards has an interesting post that isolates the problem to the inner clock in the Zune 30gbs. According to the forum posts, zunes should work fine tomorrow- but unless MS corrects the problem- the same thing will happen in four years again

Pay as you go Computing Just around The Corner- Microsoft issued Patent for "concept"

Microsoft was issued U.S. patent application number 20080319910 , on Christmas Day for a pay-as-you-go computer system. After a one-time charge, a computer user will be charged for time and programs used on a subsidized computer. MS notes the that user could pay more for usage than the computer in the long run, but the computer would have an extended “useful life”. Microsoft must have reviewed the cellular companies business models before filing for the patent. Perhaps someday Cable companies will move to this model as I wrote about a couple weeks ago.

Slashdot is reporting that a  Mercury 1.5 inch photo keychain purchased at Walmart, and a Samsung  8in Digital Photo Frame were both infected with computer viruses and/or malware.

Prestigious Kellogg's Business School of Managment Sends out 50 Acceptance Letters to Rejected Applicants!

I GOT ACCEPTED TO KELLOGGS, I GOT ACCEPTED TO KELLOGGS!!  The letter came in the mail to 50 applicants who had been rejected by Northwestern University's  Kelloggs School of Management. But a small mistake was made....the wrong letter went to the 50. The administrators blamed in on a computer/human error, and stated when applicants logged into the Kelloggs web site, they would see that they were rejected. For their trouble, rejected applicants will recieved their application fee refunded.

Major Internet Explorer Security Flaw Revealed! Experts Say to Use Firefox, Chrome, or Opera!

It was revealed that over 10,000 web sites are infected with a virus that  allows the stealing of passwords when using Internet Explorer 5.0 to IE8 Beta. Since there is currently no patch available from Microsoft, Yahoo tech blogger Christopher Null is highly suggesting that IE users use Firefox, Chrome, Opera or Safari, until a fix is available from Microsoft.

Bush Library Fails to renew Domain Name- Pays $40K to Buy it Back!

See all the mistakes aren't made in D.C. The company that is handling the George W. Bush Library had registered the domain name www.georgewbushlibrary.com after initially purchasing it for $3,000. But Yuma Solutions let the URL ownership expire, and a South Carolina company, Illuminati Karate bought if for $10. They have since sold it back for $40 thousand dollars. Yuma Solutions absorbed the buy-back cost. Not a bad investment for them, wouldn't you agree??

Dell now offering English Speaking American Customer Service Reps!! For an Extra Charge!!!

Dell computer, always innovative in their marketing, understand the frustration of calling customer support, and speaking with someone in India or the Phillipines, that speaks in broken-English.  No more says Dell, now you can be guaranteed an English speaking American CSR.......for a price....YES A PRICE....if you have a Dell account- the cost is 12.99 a month...and if you purchase a New Dell Computer- it's $99 for a year. Such a deal. Whoever came up with this unbelievable plan?  Charging for an English speaking person.....doesn't this suggest that there is a problem outsourcing CSR's to foreign nations!

There are other computer manufacturers out there...and this type of marketing by Dell assures me that my next computer won't be a Dell  I am surprised Dell hasn't found a way to give us the computer, and charge us for every keystroke or web page that we view!!!

Keyboardr - A Real Time Search Engine- That Keeps Your Fingers on the Keyboard

It never ceases to amaze me, the thousands of web applications that are created each year. Very few impress me- but I saw that I had a search from a site called Keyboardr....so I took a look.  WOW.

Keyboarder's Home page is a large clock (military time) - large enough to see without glasses for us aging baby boomers!  Along with the clock, is a search window (that searches Google, Wikipedia, and YouTube right now)....a very plain simple home page.

When you type in a search term...as you type in the letters the keyboardr starts displaying search results in real time for each letter type. Once you get all the searches, you use the up/down arrows to highlight a story....and to view it in new window- click enter...

So Long Intenet Explorer, We have had a long Run....but Mozilla Firefox is my Browser of Choice!

I first arrived on the internet in 1993, with Prodigy, owned by Sears and H.R. Block, it was a clunky text only site, only adding pictures, forums, and chats as it grew in popularity. From there I acquired Pac Bell internet ( I was a beta tester due to my association with the LA Times), and I started using Netscape- and "I thought I was in Heaven". Then when I started my association with MSN Money, I had already been using Internet Explorer because it was better. But over the years, I added Firefox, and use it exclusively at work. But here at home, for my blog, it has been IE 7.0. But lately, I noticed it was slow loading, and scrolling was choppy, and some sites didn't feel right thru IE. I had already had Firefox on this computer, so tonite, I decided to try the pages I was having trouble with on Mozilla, and Whaddya Know?  I am not having any more problems.  So like a car that has served me well over the years....it's time to trade Internet Explorer in....
