When someone posts a page on the internet it is available for the anyone who uses the Worldwide Web to view. Sometimes when I research stories for additional links, I come across pages of personal information that I know draw hits, but refrain. The other day the woman who got struck by lightning in the Boston area, had a yearbook page on the web with personal information. I iniitially posted the link, but pulled it, because it really wasn't relevant to the story- other than the picture...
But Pennsylvania Attorney Abby Sacunas objected to her picture and profile being used on a Wordpress Blog- Hot Attorney's that the site is now gone. Sacunas is quoted in a Right Juris story: Abby L. Sacunas hinted that they ought to be sued. “It’s demeaning and sexist. I intend on taking this to human resources,” she said. Her photo and biography were taken from here, the law firm of Cozen O’Conner in Philadelphia. Now isn't her complaint with her law firm? There is a fine line of copyrighted material, and perhaps using her picture on the web site without permission is an area for legal experts. But is having your picture on a website fair game to have it used by other websites?
The problem when someone complains about something like this, and the bloggers get ahold of this- it turns into stories like celebritynews.net story.
So the world has lost a web site, because quite frankly, you don't want to mess with lawyers. Hot or Not...enough said
