Jack Moelman has had a life-long dream to play the World Famous Wurlitzer Pipe Organ at the equally World-Famous Radio City Music Hall. On August 9, Moelman will fulfill that dream. He has rented the 6,000 seat theater for the evening at a cost to him of $118,182. The single evening performance is entitled "A Musical Showcase Featuring Col. Jack Moelmann and Friends at the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ."
From the Yahoo Story- Moelmann has no illusions of making money or attracting a huge audience. He had to cash out his savings accounts and savings bonds to cover the cost. He also thought of renting Radio City's high-kicking Rockettes for the show, but quickly realized they were way out of his league; they would have cost $90,000 for a five-minute performance. Tickets to Moelmann's show are $50, and he may donate some money to the Theatre Organ Society International, where he serves as secretary.
What a GREAT story- A man who wants to fulfill his lifelong dream. This proves to everyone Dreams can come true. Checkout the complete story - click here
Would love to be at Radio City tomorrow.
Am a member of Lowrey's L.I.F.E. hobby organists. Love the concerts at the Merrill Auditorium in Portland where the Kotshcmar organ with its wonderful stand of pipes are.
Do you have CD's on the market. I have looked for that kind of music often and seldom find it. Have some Dennis Awe, Paul Schaub, Bill Curry - all Lowrey organists.
Would like some theatre organ music.
