Roger Friedman of Fox Life has a column today, that is quite irritating. Monique Yazigi, a Style writer for the NY Times in the 90's succumbed to breast cancer- and usually the Times does Obits on former writers that serve the newspaper- especially one's that made a significant contribution- but as Friedman puts it- Her death wasn't worth mentioning. Fox Life has some internal letters that make me sick to my stomach. Thanks Roger for pointing out the hypocrisy of the media.
Monique Yazigi- May You Rest in Peace
My name is Vivian and I´m Monique´s half sister. I live in Brazil.
Last time I saw my sister was about 27 years ago.
I´m very sad to know she has passed away.I read the news at internet and I was shocked. She was younger than me and I still remember when we met for the first time. She was 7 and I was 17 . She was living in Albany and our dad took me there to meet my sister.
I have a picture of that day.
I was very emotioned because besides meeting Monique it was the first time I was seeing snow!
Some years later we met in New York City where we stayed together at YWCA.This time was very important to us because we had the chance to know each other better.
After that we never met again.
I think she moved to another address and I did too.We lost contact but she was always in my mind and in my heart.I wished so much to see her again!
And now I read she has died..
I can hardly believe it! I´m very very sad !
My dearest sister, May you rest in peace.
I love you
Vivian

Dear Vivian,
Monique was my great friend for more than 24 years. We met when I was Junior Committee member for the Thoroughbred Retirement Fund.
Monique did not tell her friends that she was sick.
Monique was fun, very sweet and bright, I miss her dearly.
Since you are family I would like to help you get in touch with someone who may have family momentos. Please email me at [email protected] if you wish.
