When I lived in Cleveland, once in a while I would cut school and go down to the Roxy Theater and watch a Burlesque show, usually when Busty Russell and her Twin 50's was appearing. They would have four or five women and two comics perform, and we would stay the whole day, by the time we left- we would know the comic's lines and they would shussh us from the stage.....Then for a couple summers I worked at Musicarnival in Warrensville Hts, and Ann Corio's stage show- This Was Burlesque played each year. During the intermission my buddies and I were candy butchers- the vendors who went up and down the aisle selling candies to the patrons- with a prize- "A couple pieces of Brach's hard candy and a half page phamplet on "How to strip for your Husband"
Now Burlesque is coming back in Canada...and hopefully folks can enjoy the dying art form of the tease.
