Chevy Introduces Volt at NASCAR Track in Texas! Can You imagine an Electric Car in a NASCAR Race?

I don't think that in my lifetime we will ever witness a Major NASCAR sanctioned race featuring electric cars, like the Chevy Volt. But perhaps the introduction of the Volt at Texas Motor Speedway gave us food for thought. Never Say Never?  The Volt is the first mass produced plug-in electric car which will be introduced in late 2010. NASCAR releases 2009 Race Schedule! Looks Like Fontana is the Winner!

I went to the NASCAR race at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana last year and to say it was hot wouldn't do it justice- we baked in 110 degree weather.  In two weeks, I will once again go to the races- and hope that it's a bit cooler. But in 2009, NASCAR has moved the Auto Club Speedway race to October, and its part of the race for the cup.

NASCAR's Tony Stewart Get Physical with Two USAC Officals Thursday Night in Indiana

and Tony Stewart wasn't even racing last Thursday Night. He was watching his driver Tracey Hines in a USAC race at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indiana. The incident occurred when Hines was involved in an accident, and track officials wouldn't let him back. Below is the complete video- Stewart is dressed in blue.  Look for a fine from USAC officials for his actions.

According to SI online, Tom Bowles Inside NASCAR column, a press conference is going to held July 23 to announce a one-time sponsorship by presumed Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama and BAM Motors- owner of the #49 car in NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series. Sources tell SI, that one option is that for as little as $100, donors could have their name on the car. This appears to be the first time a presidential candidate has given its money to be a primary sponsor of a NASCAR car, even for one race.

The driver of the Toyota which will be Ken Schrader, and of course he will have to have the car qualify in trials to compete.  This will be fun to watch as it develops up to race day....  Of course, if you want to get your name on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s  AMP car- you can go to the  AMP Energy website and click on the Come Ride With Me Banner- It's Free
