Rosie O'Donnell in Talks to Host Variety Show on NBC From Broadway Venue?

NBC is in the cellar  of the Networks Ratings Race, and appears to be throwing anything against the wall ......with the buzz today that Rosie O'Donnell may be back for the peacock network as host of a TV Variety show emanating from a Broadway Theater is another exclusive from Fox New's Roger Friedman  and is making the rounds of news sites, and blogs. The talks are just talks, but enough to mention that the show could be an Ed Sullivan type show with music, variety, comedy and drama. Stars could sit in the audience and wave, just to get themselves on camera.  Will this Help Rosie O?  Will This Help NBC?  Will two generations past go for an Ed Sullivan Type Variety show.  All this remains to be seen.

Perez Hilton Unjustly being sued for $25 Million? It sure looks like Diane Wargo didn't read the fine print! You Be the Judge!

It's time for You the Reader to be the Judge:  The facts are these. Perez Hilton (real name Mario Lavenderia) writes a personality-oriented gossip blog site. On that site he has a legal disclaimer concerning emails sent to his official address. Well Diane Wargo communicated with Perez Hiton through the official email. Wargo chose to be confrontational in her emails to Perez Hilton.  But after her emails and her email address were posted on www.perezhilton.com, her life changed. She began receiving "not nice" emails from Hilton readers/fans; she was fired from her job, and threats have been made against her husband and child. So being America- she finds a lawyer and sues.  But....and this is a big but...on most web sites there are disclaimers about material sent to sites- Perez has the following:  Perez has been sued before and prevailed. The outcome of this case may affect websites and bloggers world wide. The  smoking gun link has more of the particulars- I am trying to be objective.

Ralph Hardy Story about Stealing Credit Card and Hiring Hookers is a Hoax! But the Story Goes Beyond that!

In early May a story hit the net about 13 year old Ralph Hardy, stealing his Dad's credit card, hiring a bunch of hookers, and telling them they were circus performers over the age of 18- citing the disability act. I fell for it, but always questioned the story was from one source. A financial site out of the UK.

The story was a scam to dupe google search. There were lots of links back to that original site, so it worked for the Client.

But another side of the story is, How ethical was it, and before posting a story with a link, shouldn't there be an independent confirmation from another source?  I am now trying to do that in my postings- by posting the source- and a local source if possible. The end result is that Google is not happy about being duped- and I hope we don't see more "fake" stories posted, just to increase SEO!

Is Perez Hilton the Next Oprah Winfrey? I Ain't Touching this One

Perez Hilton has a loyal core audience, and media types are noticing it. He is doing alot more TV, writing, and has a just announced twice-daily radio featurette. But Perez Hilton being compared to Oprah Winfrey. Please....but that Perez self proclaims- a gay, Latino Oprah.

What it comes down to it is -Perez Hilton is like Facebook or My Space- as his audience grows up and matures, will he be able to replace them with the same age group. If history plays any part, its doubtful, because new generations want their own hip pop culture figures. Not ones thrust on them by generations older than them. There are alot of stale web sites, and MTV type personalities that at one time had their half hour of fame.

So it remains to be seen if Perez Hilton is a flash-in-the-pan, flavor of the month, or whether he has staying power. But Oprah Winfrey- he is Not!

Gizmodo Acted Like Jerks at CES! They Shut off Flat Screen Monitors Throughout the Event Remotely

Years ago, I took all the magnets on my in-laws refrigerator and turned them upside down. I got an irate phone call a few days later, and realized my mother-in-law didn't see the humor.  Gizomodo may be a well read blog, but they are A-Holes in my book. Corporations pay millions of dollars to exhibit at CES- and they think it is funny to use a product to shut off monitors remotely for many exhibitors during show hours. Knowing CES- I know they won't find anything funny in this prank- especially since Gizmodo used products supplied to them by a Remote manufacturer.  Screwing with multi million dollar exhibits isn't a innocent prank. It's called sabotage in my book. CEA has taken action banning the person involved.

David Vs. Goliath- Goliath Wins- Apple withdraws Lawsuit if Blogger, Nick Ciarelli Shutters Web Site!

For Harvard Student, Nick Ciarelli, running his web site, Think Secret, was not a money making venture, but moreso it appears to be of a good hobby. But when Think Secret started publishing information about Apple releases and had "insider info", Apple was none to kind. The Cupertino Company, just settled with Ciarelli, by withdrawing the lawsuit, if Think Secret ceased operation. Apple does like to create a buzz on their products, and control the media, until the release announcement.
